In 2025 Applaudable Media founder Craig Rowe started to realise his vision to help home owners better manage their property over its lifetime.
The idea originally came during a Tech Stars startup weekend hosted by Innovate Moreton Bay in 2023.
Fast forward to 2026 and the RenovateRight.app home management software platform he built will have a stall at the Brisbane Home Show in September.
Craig Rowe said this is the first phase of his go to market strategy to get the home maintenance web application into the hands of home owners.
The app has undergone alpha and beta stages of testing, as well as research with home owners, house flippers, DIY renovators and trade professionals.
“Before building the app, the primary goal was to identify what was missing in the market,” Craig said.
“There were a number of assumptions that needed to be validated, so interviewing and talking with homeowners and DIY renovators we identified some key opportunities to help them.”
The app is designed to be a medical record for the home, where projects are tracked as maintenance items (considered checkups) and major remodels or renovations (considered surgeries).
“It’s a different way of thinking about the home, humans have medical records, so it just seemed right people’s most valuable asset should too.”
The goal of the app is to allow people to manage the day to day maintenance of their home in the “My Home” master record.
While renovation projects are managed as independent projects.
Anyone can test out the live demo at renovateright.app to explore its features, but Craig wanted to speak more to the benefits.
“The app allows people to reduce exposure to the 3 greatest risks they face as a homeowner”, he said.
“The first being tracking of the home’s deterioation, many people allow minor problems to become major problems due to neglect.
“The second is budget, people often struggle to know how to budget for a home renovation,” Craig added.
Over half of all home renovations go over time and over budget, Renovate Right App provides visual track based on user inputs to help people see where things are at in real time.
It also helps from initial planning stages, with assisted AI step by step planning.
Once the homeowner establishes their scope of work, the real home renovation planning can begin.
“They can set their budget and track expenses visually, something we learned those using spreadsheets and paper records struggled with.”
Lastly he highlighted traditional record keeping for homes tended to be folders and paper, these can be lost and destroyed over time.
The home renovation software lets homeowners save those important household documents and records (user manuals, photos, receipts etc) to secure cloud storage.
The key benefit being this stored information becomes valuable during resale or for insurance purposes.
During Applaudable Media’s research into the viability of a home management and DIY renovation platform, it found the people most likely to use the software were new homeowners and first time DIY renovators.
“We found house flippers already had expensive platforms, as did trades, but what was needed was something homeowners could use at a justifiable price point. We’re offering that,” Craig said.
Renovate Right will be at the Brisbane Home Show from September 11 to 13 in 2026, as its first attempt to test the market for the software.
